Our mission is to help people with great ideas change their community or the world. As part of this, we remove some of the barriers to getting new social ventures and nonprofit organizations off the ground. This support usually involves a combination of free expert consultation, in-kind services, limited financial support, and fiscal sponsorship services.
What is a fiscal sponsor?
Fiscal sponsorship allows new and small organizations the ability to function as IRS-recognized tax exempt nonprofits without having to apply and maintain their own tax exempt status. This means you can start a nonprofit immediately without knowledge of legal or accounting practices, and without waiting (and paying for) an application to the IRS.
Why might I need one?
If you don’t want to wait or pay for a complicated application for tax exempt status, or if you don’t know if you want to be an independent nonprofit organization, fiscal sponsorship could be for you.
Does it cost anything?
Many organizations charge a fee for this. We don’t. We do typically build a partnership with you – an agreement that allows us to cover our expenses related to sponsoring your organization. But it does not require you ever paying us directly.
